Workshop Aims

This session will aim to create connections between the worlds of people having top surgery and alexander technique practitioners/somatic educators in other modalities and to raise awareness of the immense potential for well being when these worlds meet.

I hope to show how these embodiment studies are a source of joy and gorgeousness as well as to share the fulfilment of being able to assist others along their journey of deepening connection with themselves.

Who is this session for?

Alexander teachers, embodiment practitioners, folk who have had, are soon having or considering top surgery who may be looking for holistic support and who are curious about what AT may have to offer.

Outline

I will share some of my story...how I first started out with AT. How I came to hear about top surgery and start to design ways of working with it. How during the pandemic, a road accident and then immersive online study became a huge part of the pathway towards my own surgery....and then my experimentation, design plan for preparation and recuperation from surgery.

Introducing Fred and Shai

My fellow students, Fred and Shai will share their experiences of AT with me as they approached their surgery and during their recovery.

Activities

I will teach a couple of activities that we can do together. One for the pre-op and one for the post-op phase.

There will be short demo videos of myself in the early days after my surgery and some of the playful sketches that I made for Fred and Shai to help illustrate how our creative minds can help us along the way. (we met on zoom and via WhatsApp ‘coaching’ texts.)
